Blessing of the Bikes
Sunday, May 22nd
Worship – 8 & 10:30, Bikes – 11:45
Welcoming anyone and everyone, regardless of faith background or affiliation, Christ Church offers this special opportunity for motorcycle riders to have themselves and their bikes blessed for a safe riding season. We also hope to provide an opportunity for camaraderie and friendship and to promote a positive image of motorcycling to the community at large.
Dr. Dennis Miller, Foothills District Superintendent of the United Methodist Church and an avid motorcyclist, will be our special speaker for both worship services.
Dennis has been riding motorcycles most of his life. Over the past 30 years, he has owned 10 different motorcycles and has ridden over 250,000 miles. Three motorcycle adventures stand out as Dennis’ all-time favorites: 1.) A solo roundtrip ride across the United States from Ohio to California (2014). 2.) Two separate roundtrip rides from Ohio to Alaska (2012 & 2015). 3.) Five separate rides across the country of Vietnam (2010, 2011, 2012, 2015 & 2016).
Dennis is the founder of the Methodist Circuit Riders Motorcycle Ministry in central Ohio. Over the past five years, this group has provided approximately 50 motorcycles for United Methodist pastors in Vietnam.
During the service, we will offer a time of prayer for the safety and protection of all riders and a time of thanksgiving for the riders, relationships built, and God’s creation enjoyed during this riding season.
Motorcyclists are asked to park in the Wooster St. parking in front of the church. Attendants will be present to oversee motor cycle parking and offer valet service to automobile drivers needing close access to the church entrance.
